Maxi Burnout High Slit Maxi Dress

I kept seeing this dress pop up and finally decided to purchase it despite the mediocre reviews. So glad I did! It fits great and is super comfortable. I wore to to a wedding and got many compliments.

STOP LISTING DRESSES THAT ARE NOT MAXI DRESSES AS MAXI DRESSES THIS IS A MID DRESS OR TEA LENGTH DEFINITELY NOT MAXI YOU CAN EVEN TELL JUST BY LOOKING AT THE MODEL. THE DRESS ITSELF IS BEAUTIFUL BUT EVERYTHING STICKS TO IT TRYING TO WEAR IT INSIDE OF MY JACKET WAS HORRIBLE. THE BURNOUT VELVET IS NOT SOFT AND THE MATERIAL IS VERY SCRATCHY THE COLOR IS GORGEOUS THOUGH NOT ENOUGH TO KEEP ME FROM RETURNING IT TO THE STORE.

HUGE - had to send it back. Ordered my normal size and it was falling off me. Big disappointment. I was looking forward to wearing this out.

Beautiful dress the photo does not give it the spotlight it deserves. The fabric is thick without being too heavy. Giving it a quality feel. Looking forward to wearing it for a friend's fall wedding

Definitely not a maxi dress even though the color was very gorgeous it had to be returned to the store because the Velvet burnout is cheap the fabric is also cheap and tacky tacky in the fact that everything sticks to it. The fabric reminds me of cheap hotel curtains it's really awful the texture is a no no especially if you have sensory issues, it is not soft velvet like some of the other stretchy burnout items that torrid offers, it was extremely disappointing and had to be returned, also the side slit is definitely not as dramatic as in the photo on the model which is okay, cut itself is more like a tube dress and not very flattering. I really wanted to love it but I knew it would live in the back of my closet if I kept it. I hope they don't ever make this style of dress ever again in any other colors. This is close to as bad as the church basement dress they were offering this last fall that looks like a tablecloth beige and brown.

I'm 5'10" wear an 18-20 in torrid bottoms and 1-2 in tops. I typically wear a 2 in torrid dresses. Despite other reviews this IS a maxi dress. The length hit my feet with more room to adjust the straps. The material is stunning and beautiful and I hope torrid make more dresses with it. The body is slimmer than other torrid maxi dresses and not a flowy maxi like most other torrid maxi dresses so keep that in mind. It's beautiful and a higher quality material that I don't think the pictures do justice.

Photos do not do this dress justice. The material is substantial but not heavy. There is glitter in the middle of the flowers but it doesn't flake off everywhere. Gorgeous color and feel. The slit in the skirt came up to the top of my knee. In the stock photo, you can see that the model is pulling that side up a bit. I would consider it a modest slit. I have an apple shape and I am 5'7". I purchased this dress in size 4 (my usual Torrid size). The fit is unlike a traditional maxi. The body of the dress is darted a bit which makes the midsection more form-fitting than a typical maxi dress. The cut from the bust down reminds me of a mix between A-Line and Bodycon. Depending on your confidence level, this may not be an issue. Size 4 fit well except my tummy poked out a bit. I don't like any tops or dresses that show my belly while standing because surely when I sit it will be 10 times worse. Because this dress has plenty of stretch it is comfortable. Just my personal preference, I do not like anything that clings to my tummy. I tried a size 5 just to see the difference. I noticed another reviewer sized up also and was more happy with that fit. The chest area is too big on the size 5 (I am a 48 C) though the skirt didn't cling to my tummy at all. I considered having the dress tailored but then I'd be spending as much as the dress costs to have it altered. I decided to return but may purchase again if my size is still in stock when I can redeem torrid cash to help offset the cost.

It is a maxi on me at 5’5. I tried a 2 and 3, I typically wear 3. Overall too tight on the hips or too big in the boobs. Just wasn’t for me.

I bought this for my birthday and I’m so happy I did. It’s so flattering and the skirt shows off my shape perfectly

Love this maxi! I'm 5'11 and it hits at the ankle with the straps loosened to the lowest point. Love the high waist and slit, though it isn't as dramatic as I expected. Gorgeous fabric, exactly what I expected. Since I am tall, with a large chest, I sized up for a looser fit. I typically wear a 3 or 4 in Torrid dresses, I sized up to 5 and though it's a tad big in the arms, overall the fit is good.
